Message from the Town

Good afternoon,

The Town of New Tecumseth, following the guidance provided by the government of Ontario and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, continues to reopen recreation amenities, facilities, and programs using a gradual and phased approach.

The province of Ontario released the revised regulations with respect to capacity limits and other regulations for recreation facilities during COVID-19. In response, the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department will be lifting restrictions and modifying programs and services, including capacity limits, according to the regulations effective January 31, 2022.

Screening and Proof of Vaccination

Active screening of all participants and visitors to our facility is required. Please self-screen prior to attending your program using the Provincial Self Screening Tool If you are feeling ill or answer yes to any of the screening questions prior to arriving at the recreation centre, please do not attend your program.

Both enhanced proof of vaccination/QR Code or medical exemption, and *acceptable ID are required to be presented upon arriving at the recreation centre for individuals 12 years of age or older. A paper or digital copy of your QR code will be accepted.

*Identification Requirements: Those 18+ must show original ID (digital version or pictures of ID not accepted). All persons 12 to 17 years of age can provide a digital form of identification (photo / scan). School ID is permitted if the name and birthdate of the individual is noted on the ID.

  • Children who are under 12 years of age will be exempt from providing proof of vaccination.
  • Effective January 1, 2022, all children have a grace period of 12 weeks from their 12th birthday during which they provide identification at the point of entry, but do not need to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This is to allow a reasonable opportunity for vaccination to be completed, and to accommodate the current recommended 8-week interval between dose 1 and dose 2.
    • A parent or guardian accompanying a child under the age of 12 must meet vaccination requirements to attend.
    • As of January 4th, 2022, a QR Code vaccine document must be provided for all medical exemptions and out of Province proof of vaccination, along with proper ID.

Social Distancing

Social Distancing is required in lineups both inside and outside of the facility, and throughout the facilities.

Face Coverings

A face covering that covers the mouth and nose continues to be required in all areas of an indoor recreation facility except where you are exerting yourself in an activity or participating in a fitness class or other fitness activities.
